Meet Rakhi Wanchoo: A daughter that every parent deserves
A true human – Rakhi with thin curls embracing her smiling face, behind which lies an ocean of emotions.
Rakhi’s was a happy family of four. Despite of hardships, her parents had shared the responsibility of raising their kids well. They never saw another soul as they were enough for each other.
Life took its toll when Rakhi lost her mother in the 2nd year of her college during a Christmas outing. An astrologer predicted her passing at the age of 50; it came true that struck Rakhi tremendously.
Rakhi, her father & brother Rishi pulled each other somehow. Rishi & Rakhi share a great bond. Rakhi didn’t know how to sail through the storm if it wasn’t for Rishi. Same time around, she met Ankit. After a long-term relationship, they got married. Ankit has been a strength to her family. Even after marriage they were managing each other emotions by staying close to each other.
She has also endured her father’s paralytic attack. She turned everything around by giving up her comfort, her corporate job to stay close. She looked after him for 10 years, like a mother. They found a caretaker named “Majhi” who did the best of his job. During lockdown 2020, Rakhi didn’t visit him assuming she might infect him, so she facetimed instead.
Even during COVID, she drove on the roads to help migrants from her own pocket. She went to the villages all geared up in PPE suit to distribute food, shoes, drinks daily. They formed “Neikee Foundation” to help the needy. They received enormous support for the cause.
She lost her father due to COVID in 2021 after 5 days of being admitted to the hospital. She couldn’t meet him. She instructed Majhi to keep her father’s files close to him which Majhi held until his last breath. Unfortunately, after 21 days, Majhi also passed due to COVID. Rakhi did Majhi’s last rights as no one from his family came from Kolkata.
Rakhi is still trying to settle in. She doesn’t like her vacant time which she used to spend with her father. Her sacrifice speaks volumes about her persona. She is a mother of 2 & is grateful to have Rishi & Ankit in her life. She is doing great professionally. She is also focusing on Neikee Foundation to keep the emotion alive.
